FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Radon?

Radon is a colorless, odorless, radioactive gas that naturally forms from the decay of uranium in soil, rock, and water. It can seep into buildings through cracks in floors, walls, and foundations.

What is Radon Testing?
Radon testing measures the level of radon gas in indoor air. It is typically done using a short-term (2–7 days) test kit placed in the lowest livable area of a home.

Why is Radon Testing Important?

Health Risk: Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers and the second leading cause of cancer overall. Long-term exposure to high levels significantly increases cancer risk.

Radon is an Invisible Threat

Because radon has no smell or color, testing is the only way to know if it’s present.

Radon is a Widespread Issue

Radon can affect any home, regardless of location, age, or construction type.

Real Estate Transactions

Radon testing is often part of home inspections, as high levels may require mitigation before selling or buying a property.

Mold Inspection

 What is Mold?

Mold is a type of fungus that grows in multicellular strands called hyphae. It’s commonly found in damp, warm, and humid environments—both indoors and outdoors.

What does Mold do?

It reproduces by releasing tiny spores into the air, which can land and grow if conditions are right.

What are the effects of Mold?

  • Allergies (sneezing, itchy eyes, coughing).
  • Respiratory problems, especially for people with asthma.
  • Certain types (like black mold, often associated with Stachybotrys chartarum exposure) may produce toxins, though serious illness is less common than people fear.
